The architects of Team Paul de Vroom + Sputnik have a shared interest in typological research, thinking in terms of models and the urge to translate their ideas into buildings. Each design project begins with a quest for the most appropriate type. That search is perhaps best described as laboratory work, in which floor plans are sometimes tested at actual scale before being elaborated further in drawings.

MVRDV was founded in 1993 by Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries. The organization now numbers 200 architects, designers, urban planners and service staff who develop projects through a multi-disciplinary, iterative, and collaborative design process involving rigorous technical, creative and innovative investigation.
